Mountain Shadows Special Kids Homes

Mountain Shadows Special Kids Homes (MSSKH), Southern California's leading provider of services for children with special needs, has 13 residential homes in Riverside/Moreno Valley area. Each home is licensed by the California Department of Health Service as Intermediate Care Facility for Developmentally Disabled - Nursing (ICF/DD-N).

The philosophy of Mountain Shadows Special Kids Homes is to provide the highest quality medical care and active treatment program in the least restrictive environment. We provide services for infants, toddlers, adolescents and teenagers.

The qualifications for admissions in Mountain Shadows Special Kids Homes is developmentally delayed (DD) or at risk for DD (if under age 3) or qualify as developmentally disabled by the Regional Center standards. Other qualifications also include specialized nursing services, such as tube feeding, oxygen therapy, ostomy care or etc. At MSSKH our goal is to provide a loving and nurturing environment that fosters growth and independence to the greatest extent possible for each child. Each child's program is individualized to best meet their medical, developmental and social needs. The implementation of this program provides the basis for active treatment. Active treatment is an organized effort to maximize each child's fullest potential. Staff members are trained to provide a quality learning environment directed at developing skills and preventing possible regression. Individual specific service plans include: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Community Outreach, and Nursing Care Plans. Mountain Shadows Special Kids Homes is dedicated to promoting optimal health, development, and independence for medically fragile individuals, with or at risk for developmental disabilities in homes within the community, through exceptional nursing and supportive services by a nurturing team of professionals.
